When I first decided to put my family crest on this page, I thought it would be a pretty simple thing.  
It turned out to be a simple thought that turned into quite a complex endeavor.  For one thing, 
I learned that crests and coat of arms were not presented to families, but rather to
individuals.  Therefore, there is no such thing as an actual "family Crest" or "Coat of Arms".
Tradition has brought them into use only for the sake of identifying ancestory.  
But what about the case of Toby and I?  Our last name is Todd, but we are not really
of Todd ancestory.  I am of Blake ancestory, but as you can see above, there are two crests
for the Blake family.  Research has found that the first one shown above is truly the Blake Crest
of my family line, but my Family favors the second, Maybe because it was the second that was on the 
right side of freedom.  Weir is also not truly part of my ancestoreal line, but it belongs to the only 
grandfather I truly knew.  A man who was a huge part of my life, and contributed in countless
ways to the person I became.  And I think that is just as important as ancestory. 

So, Having said all that, I have decided to create a new family crest for Toby and I. And as soon as it is finished, 
I will post it on this site.
